Position Summary: Technology Integration Specialist will assist teachers in elementary, middle and high schools to enhance learning through improved integration of technology. The primary focus of the Technology Integration Specialist is to enrich and support teaching and learning while strengthening the technology skills of students, teachers and staff. The Technology Integration Specialist will assist classroom teachers in the incorporation of technological hardware and software into lesson plans,
supporting the SAMR framework. The Technology Integration Specialist will work under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent and work collaboratively with the instructional technology support team. Google calendar should be updated and shared with the Assistant Superintendent of Schools. Extensive knowledge, experience and successful implementation of instructional technology is required.

Minimum Qualifications / Job Requirements

Education:
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in computer science information technology or a related area of study and/or demonstrates the skills of instructional technology competencies evidenced by effective classroom implementation.
• NYS Teacher Certification

Experience:
• Minimum of three years of verifiable elementary, middle, or high school teaching experience.
• Evidence of success with reading and mathematics instruction.
• Demonstrated teaching and leadership skills, written and oral communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of teaching techniques, curriculum and staff development.
• An understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration. Ideal candidate should work well with others and be skilled team management.
• Have a background in instructional design.
• Have clear goals and strategies for integrating technology into instruction.
• Familiarity with methods for integrating technology into the curriculum such as WebQuests, online resources, digital portfolios and other forms of assessment.
• Experience with effective technology teaching strategies in teaching software and hardware skills.

Specific Training / Skills:

• Strong technology skills in up-to-date computer software, including word processing, database, spreadsheet. Web page development, presentation, digital video and audio editing, image processing, and graphics applications.
• Experience using SmartBoard, graphing calculators, Google Chrome, G Suite, Google Classroom, Ipads, Chromebooks, GoGuardian, JAMF and other Instruction Softwares and mobile apps.
• Current on new instructional technologies and their use in the classroom and willingness to continue to learn additional instructional technologies.

Other:

• Ability to coach, mentor and teach adults.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate  self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines.
• Ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources, evaluate and make recommendations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working closely with classroom teachers in the development of lesson plans that encompass the use of technology.
• Support implementation of District initiatives including the SAMR framework.
• Maintain a database of all instructional software and applications.
• Coordinates all activities surrounding the professional technological development of administrative staff members and faculty.
• Provide direct support to teachers through personal campus visitation, observation, coaching and mentoring.
• Serves as a central liaison between faculty, administrative staff and the organization’s technology team.
• Facilitate effective use of learning time by providing professional development related to:

1. Maximize increased instructional technology time focused on student academic needs.
2. Provide professional development that ensures student engagement when providing differentiated re-teaching and focused interventions utilizing instructional technology; and
3. Integrate curriculum areas to strengthen key concepts across all subject areas using technology.

• Provide professional development and ongoing support with a focus on  strategies and activities on improving daily instruction.
• Provide after school Technology Professional Development.
• Coordinate approved and authorized curriculum and instructional initiatives as it relates to technology.
• Create learning resources for teachers, staff and students. These may include Web sites, tutorials, interactive programs and databases that support teachers in integrating technology. Ideally, teachers
will be guided and encouraged to develop their own resources, while the Technology Integration Specialist will support these efforts by providing additional support needed.
• Structure the technology education of teachers. Though the Technology Integration Specialist may not directly conduct all training, lab work or classes regarding computer use, he or she will coordinate
instruction to meet technology proficiency goals.
• Recommend purchase of hardware, software and related resources.
• Identify trends in software, curriculum, and teaching strategies in all content areas.
• Assess technology skill levels of students, teachers and staff.
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Schools.
