TITLE: Academic Summer School Teacher
DATE: July 2025 - August 2025
STIPEND:Pay rate as per LFA contract (for two sessions, pay for optional third
session is an additional)
REPORTS TO: Summer School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS: The teacher should possess the following characteristics:
- Holds a New York State Teaching certificate in the subject area.
- Strong understanding of New York State Learning Standards.
- Strong understanding of the PLC, MTSS and SAMR frameworks.
- Assesses needs of students, prescribes and implements effective lessons to meet those needs through the use of appropriate and current instructional skills.
- Ability to implement project-based personalized instructional lessons.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to support student achievement.
- Demonstrates classroom management procedures that provide for large and small groups, and individuals, and provides an environment conducive to learning.
- Uses appropriate disciplinary procedures, establishes clear parameters for student behavior, responds properly when problems occur, and helps students toward self-discipline.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral form.
- Sets and attains a high level of expectations with a commitment to using available resources in a way that accomplishment occurs.
- Develops positive relationships with students; listens to, cares for, and works collaboratively with them.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, teachers, parents/guardians, and administrators in a confidential manner.
- Integrates technology into planning, learning, and record-keeping activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement project-based personalized learning experiences aligned with the New York State Learning Standards.
- Communicate with the principal, colleagues, students and families to support student achievement.
- Collaborate with peers during PLC meetings to enhance instructional practices.
- Utilize instructional technology during daily lessons.
- Develop and maintain an effective instructional environment conducive to students’ social, emotional, and academic needs.
- Maintain appropriate student records.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the program administrator.
