Objective: The After School Restorative Detention Program aims to address behavioral issues by fostering personal growth, accountability, and positive community relationships among students. This program shifts the focus from traditional punitive measures to restorative practices, encouraging students to reflect on their actions, understand the impact on others, and develop strategies for making amends and improving future behavior.

    Key Components:

    1. Reflection and Accountability:

      • Self-Reflection Activities: Students participate in guided self-reflection exercises to understand the root causes of their behavior and its effects on themselves and others.
      • Behavioral Journaling: Each student maintains a journal to document their thoughts, feelings, and progress throughout the program.
    2. Restorative Circles:

      • Group Discussions: Facilitated group discussions where students share their experiences, listen to others, and collectively explore the impact of their actions.
      • Restorative Dialogue: Structured conversations that promote empathy, active listening, and mutual respect, helping students understand diverse perspectives.
    3. Skill-Building Workshops:

      • Conflict Resolution: Training in effective communication and conflict resolution skills to handle future disputes constructively.
      • Emotional Regulation: Techniques for managing emotions and stress, promoting emotional intelligence and resilience.

    Program Schedule:

    • The program runs for one hour after school, twice a week.
    • Each session includes time for reflection, restorative circles, skill-building workshops, and community service planning.

Conclusion: The After School Restorative Detention Program is designed to create a supportive and constructive environment for students to learn from their mistakes, develop essential life skills, and build stronger, healthier relationships within their school and community.
